Ormeasco di Pornassio or Pornassio is a fairly recent Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.), established on 16 September 2003. The name of the D.O.C. refers to the grape variety at the base of its wines, Ormeasco, and to one of its main areas of cultivation and production, the municipality of Pornassio, in the province of Imperia. Bruno Pollero and Eliana Maffone, husband and wife, have made Ormeasco into a sort of flagship wine, working hard to promote it. Founded in 2009, the Maffone Estate has recovered the 100-year-old vineyards of Eliana's great-grandfather in Acquetico, a small village between 500 and 700 metres above sea level in the municipality of Pieve di Teco, immersed in the fascinating landscape of this green and impervious valley
